Larry Neal McCormick was born January 19, 1947, in Shiloh, TN, the son of the late Lyman Lee and Edna Omega Keen McCormick.
Larry was a 1965 graduate of Adamsville High School. Larry was employed by Garan for 15 years in Adamsville, TN, Carthage, MS, and plant manager in Starkville, MS. Larry was a people person and loved by all of his former employees at Garan. Later in life, Larry did landscaping, tree trimming, and various other jobs involving his bucket truck.
While working at Garan, Larry was very involved in charitable organizations such as the United Way, Special Olympics, and March of Dimes. He was recognized in the Outstanding Young Men of America by his local chapter of the Jaycees in Starkville, Ms., where he served as Chairman. He also helped coach multiple youth basketball teams. Larry was a Baptist in belief.
Larry was very artistic, even drawing a very elaborate picture of the old Adamsville High School. He loved playing basketball and played in high school, like most of his brothers and sisters. He loved old cars, watching the Motor Trend Channel, and attending car shows. He loved his family very much and was really enjoying being a great-grandfather.
Larry departed this life on September 27, 2022, in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 75 Years, 8 Months, and 8 Days. He is survived by one son, Lynn McCormick (Theresa) of Savannah, TN, and one daughter, April Rast (Paul) of Columbus, MS; three grandchildren: Lyndsay Smotherman (John) and Chance Craddock of Savannah, TN, and Colton McCormick of Memphis, TN; and one great-grandchild: Lyla Smotherman of Savannah, TN; four sisters: Linda Scott (Jerry), Ava Nixon (Virgil), Shelia Smith (Mike), and Patricia Dickerson, all of Adamsville, TN; two brothers: Jerald McCormick (Donna) of Houston, TX, and Mike McCormick of Adamsville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He did have a special niece, Pam Scott, who took good care of him throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hughes, and a brother, Leon McCormick.
