LARRY JONES
Enville, TN: Larry Davis Jones, age 80, passed away February 7, 2018 at his home.
He was born March 12, 1937 near Bells, TN and at an early age moved to Springcreek, TN, the son of the late George and Maggie Davis Jones. He graduated from Northside High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army 1958 until 1962 and was stationed in Germany as a lineman. He married Zelda Taylor in 1971. They made their home in Jackson until 1989 when they moved to the Cabo Community where he farmed with Mr. Taylor and was Co-Owner of Taylor & Jones Bar-B-Que at the Red Barn. Mr. Jones also worked at American Olean Tile for thirty-five years, where he worked in the warehouse and then traveled for the company with line set-up, retiring in 2001.
He loved growing roses and working in the yard landscaping and enjoyed raising peppers and peas.
Mr. Jones is survived by his life partner and caregiver, Zelda Taylor of Enville; a son, Randy Jones of Virginia Beach, Virginia and three daughters, Sandy Snell of Enville, Sheila Pruitt of Huntingdon and Angla Henry of Greenfield, TN; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Rhodes of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Jones and George M. Jones and a sister, Mary Alice Young.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Larry Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Family Cemetery at Cabo.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday and 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Sunday.
