Lady Ruth Dickey Harville departed this life on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, 6 days. She was born in the Piney Grove Community in Hardin County, Tennessee on March 22, 1933, the daughter of the late Charley Ross and Winnie Lou Ada Murphy Dickey. On April 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Barney Frank Harville, Sr., who survives.
Lady Ruth worked as a seamstress at Jay Mar Ruby in her early years and had lived in Michigan City and New Carlisle, Indiana for 42 years. She attended Clifton Revival Center in Cifton, Tennessee. She loved to sew and made wedding gowns, quilts, and crafts. She enjoyed reading and writing stories. She loved children and babysiting, many children called her "Grandma". Lady Ruth also loved gardening, canning vegetables, and was always barefoot. She was a great mom, a great cook, and was very strict. Most of all she was loved by her family, her brothers, sisters, and and her loving husband of 65 years.
She is survived by her husband, Barney Frank Harville, Sr. of Clifton, Tennessee; children, Mike Harville and wife, Amanda of Clifton, Tennessee, Mitchell Harville and wife, Kathy of Clifton, Tennessee, Charles Harville and wife, Tina of Savannah, Tennessee, Barney Frank Harville, Jr. and wife, Becky of Savannah, Tennessee, Karen Degnegaard and husband, Jim of Jackson, Tennessee, Barbara Smith and husband, LC of New Carlisle, Indiana, Shirley Keck of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Allen Harville and wife, Renee of Walcottville, Indiana, Mark Harville and wife, Patty of Anderson, Indiana, Julie Whaler and husband, Rick of Ocala, Florida; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Davis of Adamsville, Tennessee, Rosie Umphrey of Savannah, Tennessee, and Geneva Sheets of Adamsville, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Verdie Umphrey, Myrtle Williams, Marie Hunt, and Charlene Gregory; brothers, Daulton, Wareka, Vernon, Edgar, Albert, Charlie, and Larry Dickey; grandchild, Jeffrey Scot Harville; great-grandchildren, Charles William Holt, James Mason Harville, and Kayden William Bennett; and her stepmother, Veedie Marie Baskins Dickey. .
