L. G. Walker

L. G. Walker was born February 20, 1930 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of the late Guy Lee and Etta Monroe Walker. He was united in marriage to Naomi Ruth Brown on December 15, 1951and she preceded him in death on February 14, 2003.Mr. Walker was a retired employee of Genesco, was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, and served in the United States Army.Mr. Walker departed this life on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Quality Care Nursing Home in Lebanon, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 1 Month, 4 Days.He is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Dozier and husband, William of Lebanon, TN; a sister, Mary Helen Reaves of Hohenwald, TN; three brothers, James (Bud) Walker, A. C. Walker, and Herman Walker all of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Pope. Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Jerry Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Gallaher Cemetery, Waynesboro, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Friday, March 27, 2009 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
