L. A. Simpson

March 16, 1938 — October 17, 2007

Mr. Simpson died October 17 at his home. The husband of Ann Claire Simpson, who survives, he was a retired Major with the City of Memphis Police Department, having served 34 years. He was born in Memphis, son of the late L. A. and Eula May Achord Simpson and lived a majority of his life in Arlington, moving to Middleton about 9 years ago. He served in the US Air Force for four years and was active in the Fraternal Order of Police and the Memphis Police Association.



In addition to his wife, whom he married on December 4, 1967, survivors include two daughters, Sherry Waits of Memphis and Kelly Lee and her husband, Andy, of Collierville; a son, John Louis Simpson and his wife, Lisa, of Memphis; four sisters, Margarette Kerrns of Bald Knob, Ark., Georgia Townsend of Huntingdon, Shirley Cox of Parsons and Gwen Beatley of Memphis; five grandchildren, Brandy Hensley, Ashley Waits, Grayson and Regan Lee and Jordan Simpson; and a great grandchild, Tyler Hensley.
