Kit Carson Hammons

October 7, 1927 — March 17, 2010

Mr. Hammons passed away Wednesday, March 17 at his home in Hohenwald, Tennessee.



The widower of Martha Jane Hammons, who died on February 17, 2008, he was the former owner/operator of 3 Way and Pleasant Run Groceries. He was born in Hardeman County, son of the late Robert Herschel Hammons and Mamie Brown Hammons and lived all of his life here. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was active in the VFW. He was a member of the NRA and was a strong supporter of the Republican Party. Mr. Hammons was a craftsman, making ornate homemade knives for 55 years and participated in Meals on Wheels. He was a long time member of Bolivar First United Methodist Church and a current member of Freedom Holy Temple in Hohenwald.



Survivors include a son and his wife, Tim and Donna Hammons of Hohenwald; two grandchildren, Scott Hammons of Memphis and Ryan Hammons of Hohenwald; and two sisters, Vadine Koenig of Hamilton, Ohio and Cecelia Keller of Bolivar. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edsel and Keelon Hammons.
