Kimberly Gayle Weatherspoon, affectionately known as Gayle, was born on December 21, 1960, in Savannah, Tennessee, to the late Floyd Edward and JoAnn Burns Weatherspoon.
Throughout her life, Gayle dedicated many years to the service of others at Riverwick Assisted Living in Savannah, Tennessee, and Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, Tennessee. In her final days, she found solace and care in the presence of her colleagues at Weakley County Nursing Home. If you were to inquire with Gayle, she would express her greatest accomplishment in life as being her daughter, Tianna, and her son-in-law, Kenny. Both individuals selflessly prioritized Gayle’s well-being by providing her with the utmost care and love, and Gayle never hesitated to express her profound pride in their actions.
On April 16, 2025, at the age of 64 years, 3 months, and 24 days, Kim departed from this life in Martin, Tennessee.
She is survived by her daughters, Shakeema Cherelle Lowery, Tianna West (Kenneth), and Makenzie Skinner Bishop; her son, Micheal Konrad Skinner Bishop; her siblings, Floyd Edward Witherspoon Jr., Sherian Denise Hartnest (Emmitt), Stevie Norvell Weatherspoon, Victor Wayne Weatherspoon (Nelva), Gavin Terrell Weatherspoon (LaWanda), and Elizabeth Ann McCoy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kim has been reunited in death with her sister, Dorothy Ann Alexander; her brother, James Edward Burns; her sister Catina Weatherspoon; and her significant other, David Skinner.
In memory of her mother, Gayle, who valiantly endured heart disease and held the color red dear, the family has kindly requested that attendees wear red attire to her homecoming ceremony. Instead of flowers, they would be grateful if donations could be made to the American Heart Association in Gayle’s honor.
