Kerry Elizabeth Culp, 67, of Whiteville, Tennessee, died Friday, August 5, 2016. She was born March 4, 1949, the only child of the late Rachel H. Culp and Thomas J. Culp, who survives her. Also surviving is a cousin, Peggy Davis of Newport, AR; and special friends, Bernice and Richard Hamilton, and Betty Perry, all of Whiteville, TN.
Kerry grew up in Whiteville and graduated valedictorian from Whiteville High School in 1967. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She also earned a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee School of Social Work. For more than 20 years, Kerry was a social worker with the Methodist Hospital System in Memphis. Upon retirement, she moved back to Whiteville to care for her aging father, who currently resides in the Pine Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar.
Throughout her adulthood, Kerry courageously dealt with lifestyle limitations and health consequences from Type 1 Diabetes. She was an avid theater goer and loved Broadway musicals. She and her father shared a passion for sports, especially football when Ole Miss was playing. Kerry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whiteville.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Melrose Cemetery in Whiteville, TN.
