Jackson: Elma Kathryn Stansell Ward, age 77, died Wednesday morning, September 10, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Ward was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Brodie R. and Bessie Lee Clayton Stansell. She attended Chester County schools and in 1956 was married to Edward F. ‘Rip’ Ward. They lived most of their married life in Jackson were Mr. Ward worked for 33 years as chief engineer for WBBJ-TV. Mr. Ward died in 2004. Mrs. Ward was a former member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by four daughters; Patricia Smith of Jackson, Diane Moorehead of Lewisville, MS, Jamie Marshall of Jackson, and Teresa Frazier of Jackson and two sons; Jimmy Ward and Robert E. Ward both of Jackson. She has 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters; Thelma McClure of Jackson, Dean Frye of Henderson, Christine Langford of Henderson, and two brothers; Robert Stansell of New Mexico, and Ricky Stansell of Memphis. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Wayne Stansell and James Franklin Stansell.
