Katherine West, 86, of Middleton, died early Wednesday morning,
March 9, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of William B. West, who died in 1982, she was a
homemaker and had worked at Fisher Aircraft during WWII as
well as at the Oliver Finney Candy Company in Memphis. Mrs.
West was born June 25, 1918 in Saulsbury, daughter of the late
Tillmon and Lucille Davenport Ernest. She lived in Memphis for
32 years before making her home in Middleton in the late 1960's.
Mrs. West enjoyed attending senior citizens meetings as well as
traveling with the senior citizens group. She loved to quilt, was an
avid gardener and was a member of Middleton Church of Christ.
Services were 1 PM Friday, March 11 at Shackelford's chapel in
Middleton with Craig Shackleford officiating. Burial was in
Middleton City Cemetery.
Survivors include three sisters, Earline Henson of Middleton,
Frances Rayburn of Sardis, Miss. and Lorraine Minga of Senatobia, Miss.; two brothers, Morris Earnest of Middleton and Edward Earnest of Memphis; and nineteen nieces and nephews. She was lovingly cared for by Kathleen Williams, Tonya Bryan, Virginia Dowdy, Eula Hodge and Reba Vaughn. Mrs. West was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Earnest and Christine Clark and three brothers, Earl, Leo and Tillmon Earnest, Jr.
