Karen was born on March 25, 1958, in Natchez, Mississippi to George Kenneth and Marian Maleese Strange Carpenter, who preceded her in death.
Karen graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Iowa. She was a veteran who served her country in the United States Army, as well as the National Guard. After her service in the Army, she lived in Vernon, Alabama, where she was employed in the manufacturing industry. Upon the death of her father, Ken Carpenter, she moved to Gulfport, Mississippi, where she was employed by the University of Southern Mississippi and later by WalMart. When she became ill, she moved to Counce, Tennessee, where she was cared for by her loving sister, Eva Allen, until her journey upon this earth was complete.
Karen was a generous and faithful friend who took great joy in time spent with her friends and family, especially her nephews and nieces. She was also a lover of all types of animals. Memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
Karen is survived by three sisters, Brenda (Freddy) Gilmore of Amory, Mississippi, Eva (Julian) Allen of Counce, Tennessee, and Judy (Mark) Hammond of Peachtree City, Georgia; nephews, David Gilmore, Randy (Donna) Holloway, Mitch Hammond and Cooper Hammond, and a niece, Jamie Allen. She is also survived by great-nieces, Hadley Gilmore and Emily Holloway and a great-nephew, Gavin Holloway.
