Mrs. Cox passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Bolivar General Hospital.
A native of Woodville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Clint and Virless Henson Cox. She attended Middleton schools and lived in the Middleton area most of her life. On July 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Mr. W. E. "Bigon" Cox. Mr. Cox passed from this life on April 1, 1988.
A member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Middleton, she made her profession of faith at the Pocahontas First Baptist Church at the age of 12 and was baptized in the Hatchie River. Mrs. Cox had worked in Dietary at Western Mental Health Institute in Bolivar before her retirement. In her leisure time, she enjoyed flowers, reading, needlework and painting. She was a member of the Red Hats club and the Middleton Homemakers club.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lofton of Walnut, MS; her son, Jackie L. Cox and his wife, Cathy, of Middleton; her brothers, Bobby G. Cox and wife, Louise, of Hermitage, TN and Jimmy D. Cox and wife, Myra, of Grand Valley Lakes; her sisters, Hulene King and husband, Roy, of Middleton and Geraldine Bodiford of Memphis; 5 grandchildren, Jim Lofton, Leah Everette, Andrea Jones, Jaclyn Cox and Courtney Cox; 6 great-grandchildren, Ericka King, Ella Bumpus, Noah Lofton, Avery Patterson, Jackson Jones and Alivia Patterson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Ledford; two brothers, June Alvin and Larry Cox; and her son-in-law, Jimmy Lofton.
