Joyce Verblene McCormick

of Adamsville, TN departed this life on October 23, 2016 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 7 Months, 22 Days. She was born March 1, 1928 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Roy Garner and Ollie Bertha Michael Garner. She was united in marriage to Deward B. McCormick on April 10, 1943. Mr. McCormick preceded her in death on July 22, 2009 after 66 years of marriage.

Mrs. McCormick lived in McNairy County all of her life. She was a garment factory worker until age 74. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Verblene was a lifelong member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and baking teacakes that she gave to her neighbors and friends. She loved the activities and her participation with the FCE Club at Leapwood.

She is survived by three sons, J. D. McCormick and wife Patsy of Jackson, TN, Thomas Ray McCormick and wife Katie of Selmer, TN, Travis Lee McCormick of Selmer; eleven grandchildren, Tommy McCormick and wife Crystal, Terry McCormick and wife Kirstie, Jennifer Moore and husband Nicky, Timothy McCormick, Ashley Farmer and husband Andy, Adam McCormick, Tammy Vatter and husband Steve, Leigh Ann Ellington, Stacy Young and husband Jeremy, Anita Moore, Angela Looney; 28 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Mae Wages; a grandchild, Aaron Massengill; a grt-grandchild, Beth Ann Thompson; a sister, Christine Massengill; three brothers, Franklin Garner, Carlton Garner, Corintham Garner.
