Joyce Liniel Hosea was born on August 9, 1929, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Fred Steven and Wannette Bromley Hosea.
On July 27, 1974, he was united in marriage to Cora Tune, who survives.
Mr. Hosea honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Throughout his life, he worked at Savannah Housing Authority, drove a bus for the Board of Education, worked in sales at Grisham's Men's Wear for 13.5 years, and most recently worked for Hardin County as the Register of Deeds for 12 years. He was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee and had previously lead the music at Sharon Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church for many years. Joyce enjoyed Southern Gospel music and sang in the Deep South Quartet for 9 years and also sang at many funerals. He enjoyed working on and collecting old cars.
Joyce was a kind, tenderhearted man. He never met a stranger and could make conversation with anyone. If he knew you or your family, he would tell you how he knew everyone.
Joyce Liniel Hosea departed this life on December 26, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 17 days.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cora Tune Hosea of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Geneva Hosea Kerr Creekmore of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters in law, Nadine Hinton of Waterloo, Alabama, Elizabeth Lyon of Senatobia, Mississippi, Betty Wilson of Senatobia, Mississippi, Faye Boyette of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Karen McGee of Tupelo, Mississippi; and brother in law, Lane Tune of Tupelo, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, Joyce was preceded in death by his brothers in law, Andy Walker Kerr, Howard Creekmore, Willard Tune, John D. Tune, and Ray Tune and sisters in law, Louise Reed, Mervee Benson, Olene Shutt, Gertie Craig, Elizabeth Putt, and Carlene Davis.
