Joy Ann Smith

Joy Ann Smith was born on January 21, 1958 in Alcorn County, MS. She was the daughter of Betty Dickey McLain and stepdaughter of Johnny McLain.
Ms. Smith was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse who worked approximately 25 years for Western Mental Health Institute and local nursing homes.
She was, to those who knew her best, a very kind and caring person. Always gentle spoken, she possessed a genuine smile and a dry wit.
Her compassionate nature was always apparent through her encouraging words and selfless concern for the happiness of others.
Ms. Smith's greatest joy in life was her one and only grandchild. She enjoyed watching him play and reading him books. Nothing gave her more pleasure than being his "LuLu."
She departed this life on March 18, 2020 at the age of 62 years, 1 month, 26 days. She is survived by her daughter Mica Rickman and husband Wallace II, a cherished grandson Wallace III, and her beloved cat Pip. Ms. Smith is also survived by her mother and stepfather, one brother, three sisters, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Broise and Opal Dickey.
