Joy Mills

Joy Mills, age 82, of Bolivar, departed this life Monday morning, September 19, 2016 at Bolivar General Hospital.

She was born October 11, 1933 in the Hebron Community of Hardeman County. She was the daughter of Margaret Pipkin Howell and William E. "Eddie" Howell.

Joy was educated in Hardeman County Schools. She was a member of the Dixie Hills Baptist Church for many years, where she was very active with the youth of the church. Joy loved working with the youth throughout the year and especially during Vacation Bible School. Joy, an avid reader herself, also enjoyed many years working at the Hardeman County Library.

Joy was married to George Alton Mills on April 14, 1951, loved him 45 years through his earthly life, July 28, 1996, and loves him still into eternity. She and George are the parents of Alton Gregory Mills (spouse, Susie) of Cincinnati, Ohio; Norman Lynn Mills, who recently preceded her to Heaven (spouse, Wendy) of Whiteville; Richard Kendall Mills (spouse, Cindy) of Bolivar and Randall Alan Mills (spouse, Sherry) of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Joy is also survived by four wonderful granddaughters, Caroline M. Hudspeth (spouse, Jon) of Milan; Elizabeth Ashley Mills of Bolivar; Kelsey Amanda Mills and Kristin Ellis Mills, both of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Besides her husband, son and parents, Joy was preceded to eternity by her brother, Edward Levoid Howell of Bolivar.
