Joy Bishop

September 27, 1915 — April 16, 2010

Ester Joy Reid Bishop age 94, passed away April 16, 2010 at Bells Nursing Home at Bells, TN.



Mrs. Bishop was born in Tuscumbia, AL and grew up in Allsboro, AL the daughter of the late William Amos (W.A.) and Della Hearn Reid. She graduated from Cherokee Vocational High School in 1933 and in 1937 married Kenneth H. Bishop. Mr. Bishop worked for TVA and they made their home up and down the Tennessee Valley area. They had made their home in Chattanooga and Allsboro among other places. She had worked in the school system in the cafeteria at Allsboro and Chattanooga and also cooked in the cafeteria at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. She was a member of the Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church.



They moved to Jackson Meadows in 1996 to make her home near Don and Linda. Mr. Bishop passed away in 1998.



She is survived by a son; K. Don Bishop and wife Linda of Jackson, TN; a daughter, Christie Wade and husband Brent of Chattanooga; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Reid and W.A. Reid both of Tuscumbia; three sisters, Mae Hyden and Fae Campbell both of Allsboro and Sue Malone of Cherokee.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Bishop; two sisters, Ruth Bishop and Pearl Bolding and three brothers, Nathaniel Reid, Elbert Reid and Charles Lee Reid.
