Dr. Joseph E. Rose, 72, of Whiteville, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at his home.
The husband of Jana Rosell Rose, who survives, he served as a Professor of Chemistry at Midwestern University in Witchita Falls, Texas for many years before entering into a career as an industrial executive. Mr. Rose was born December 17, 1933 in Memphis, son of the late Edgar Earl Rose and Mary Midyett Rose. He grew up in Vildo, received his under graduate degree from the University of Memphis and his doctorate at Ole Miss where he was a member of the Alumni Association. Mr. Rose lived in Texas for many years before retiring to his farms in Hardeman County developing and maintaining the family estate.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Michael Qualls officiating. Burial will be in Vildo Cemetery near Whiteville.
In addition to his wife, whom he married May 21, 1969, he is survived by five daughters, Mary Diane Rose and Sarah Katherine Ball, both of Little Rock, Ark., Ann Popott of Boca Raton, Fla., Missy Rose of Memphis and Elizabeth Rose Mlinaric of Hamburg, Germany; one son, Joseph E. Rose, Jr. of San Antonio, Tex. and six grandchildren.
