Johnny Ray Morris was born January 5, 1939 in Hardin County, TN the son of the late Johnny Luther and Myrtle Vernice White Morris. Mr. Morris died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 74 Years, 8 Months, 9 Days. As a U.S. Army veteran, he served in Germany after World War II during the reconstruction period. Mr. Morris earned his living as a machinist, welder, and farmer, formerly employed as a welder at Redd Carroll Welding in Florence, AL. April 17, 1965 he was married to Hazel Laverne Kilburn Morris who survives of Lutts, TN. Other than his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amy Raenae Morris Lambert and husband David of Lutts, TN, two grandchildren, Victoria Elisabeth Lambert and Andrew David Lambert, a brother, Ralph David Morris of Savannah, TN, four sisters, Shirley Faye Franks and husband Keaton of Savannah, TN, Mackie Nell Fielder and husband Aaron of Lutts, TN, Tera Ann Daniels and husband Lynn of Cypress Inn, TN, and Kathy McFall of Savannah, TN, several nieces and nephews. Also he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Sue White.
Services will be Monday, September 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee with John E. Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Lutts Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Davey Morris, Chase McGee, Brad Franks, Kiley McFall, Stephen McFall, Ray White, and Rickey White; hononary pallbearer is Andrew David Lambert.
Family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Vanderbilt Children's Diabetes Clinic in Nashville, TN in honor of his granddaughter, Victoria Lambert, who is currently receiving treatment for Type I Juvenile Diabetes.
