Mr. Johnnie E. Brown, age 84 of Bolivar, passed from this life Thursday, November 27, 2008.He was born January 31, 1924 in Toone to the late Johnnie William and Maddie Bell Hill Brown. He served in the United States Army during World War II in five major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Bronze Star. August 12, 1962, he married Winnie Luella Lowrance, who later preceded him in death March 21, 2007. He worked as a farmer but had also retired from Western Mental Health Institute as well as Sequentia in Grand Junction. He was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church.Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Hanley of Brownsville, Carolyn Hill of Bolivar and Judy Bryant of Somerville; two sons, Larry Brown of Memphis and Johnnie Wayne Brown of Brownsville; a stepdaugter, Peggy Hill of Bolivar; and seventeen grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Kelly; a brother, Walter Lee Brown; a stepson, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
