Johnnie Faye Mitchell Austin

Johnnie Faye Mitchell Austin was called to her Heavenly home on January 27, 2021, at 2:35 p.m. She lived a wonderful life for 82 years, 11 months, and 23 days. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her three daughters, sisters, son in law, and her beloved preacher.

Johnnie Faye was born February 4, 1938, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of Johnie William and Ruby Faye Petigo Mitchell. On June 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to Hoover Austin, who survives.

Johnnie Faye loved the Lord and demonstrated daily her love of God through her many acts of kindness and uplifting words to everyone. She was a lifelong member of Eureka United Methodist Church.

She was the upmost example of Proverbs 31:27-31, “The Virtuous Woman”.

She was very active throughout her entire life, even when obstacles tried to slow her down. She truly loved her family with her whole heart. Johnnie Faye loved gardening, cooking for her family and friends, crocheting, and her United States of America. She would also want you to know how much she admired President Donald Trump. She was known to write him letters of encouragement to which she received letters back from President Trump thanking her for her encouraging words and prayers.

Johnnie Faye was known by many names: mama, sister, grandma, Ma Faye, Aunt Faye; she was a true friend to all.

She is survived by her three blessed daughters, Vicky Dianne Lancaster Bennick and her husband Allen, Lisa Gail Austin, and Melinda Marie Austin Bonee and her husband Joe, all of Savannah, Tennessee; her most beloved grandchildren, Shelby Marie Bonee and Joseph William "Quaid" Bonee IV , all of Savannah, Tennessee, and Andrea Lancaster Hayes of White Bluff, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Courtney Jackson of Clarksville, Tennessee, Lacey Hooper of Savannah, Tennessee, Rodney Hayes Jr., and Natalie Hayes of White Bluff, Tennessee; great-great grandchildren, Cole Deaton, Ezra and Eliza Henley, all of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Hooper Gordan Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Mary Baker, Joyce Franks, and Linda Higgins and her husband Douglas, all of Savannah, Tennessee, and Martha Inman of Bon Aqua, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnnie Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie William Mitchell and Ruby Faye Petigo Mitchell; a grandson, Baby Bonee; a brother, Moses Mitchell; a sister, Katie Wardlow; beloved, Michael Wayne Mitchell; nieces, Regina Kay Inman and Cristy Lynn Ingle; nephews, James Cherry Porter, Stanley Hubbard, Stacy Dean Hubbard, and Tim Porter.

Mama was blessed with such wonderful extended family and friends.
