Johnie S. Powers

Johnie Eileen Smith Powers, age 86, of Selmer, Tennessee, passed from this life on Friday, July 16, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Ernest and Cordy Brown Smith. She was united in marriage to John Lee Powers who preceded her in death on April 2, 2000. She was a devout christian lady who loved her family and her church, the First Presbyterian Church of Selmer. She retired from the McNairy County Board of Education where she worked for many years.Mrs. Powers is survived by a son, Scott Powers and wife Denise of Selmer; a daughter, Sarah Lee Smith and husband Vince of Madison, Alabama; four grandchildren, Olevia Powers, John Hunter Powers, Corey Smith, Megan Smith; a sister, Sarah Alice Alexander of Sheffield, Alabama. A host of other relatives and friends.Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry B. Smith, Bill Smith, and Preston Smith.
