John Spencer

November 6, 1934 — September 24, 2006

John Spencer, 71, of Medon, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



John was born November 6, 1934, son of the late Rose Allen Spencer Dacus in Fayette County and resided most of his life in the Medon community.



He attended Clover Creek Baptist Church in Medon, where he served as an usher and was a proud member of the Shirley Patton adult Sunday school class.



He will be remembered by his friends and family as a person who loved life, the farm, driving a tractor and relating stories about his trip to Disney World.



John Spencer is survived by half-sisters, Mable Hopper of Bolivar, Janie Spree of Medon and Irene Houston of Memphis; half-brothers, William, Ervin and Harry Dacus, all of Medon and James Dacus of Bolivar and nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Leroy Dacus.



He spent the second half of his life with the Jared family of Medon and became a special “son” and “brother” to them.



Services were held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Clover Creek Baptist Church with Ken Skelton officiating. Burial was in Clover Creek Baptist Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
