John W. Schloesser, 88, of Adamsville, died Friday afternoon, May 19, 2006 at Hardin Home Nursing Home in Savannah. Services will be held at a later date in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
The husband of Marjorie Parker Schloesser, who survives, he retired in 1983 as Traffic Manager for the Memphis Cotton Exchange. He was born January 22, 1918 in Sebastian County, Ark. near Ft. Smith, son of the late John Elmer Schloesser and Gertrude Seeley Schloesser. A resident of Memphis from 1958-2003, he served in the U. S. Army's "Washington Artillery" during World War II as a Master Sergeant in 3 major European theater battles. Mr. Schloesser moved to the Adamsville area in 2003. Loved by all, he was a very generous man who enjoyed working on his cars.
In addition to his wife, whom he married March 23, 1973, survivors include two step-daughters, Peggy Wilkes Leathers of Crump and Sheryl J. Wilkes of Dallas, Tex.; a step-granddaughter, Kimberly Leathers Payne and three step-great grandchildren, Kelsey and Karlee Jo Wakeley and Colton Payne. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Curtis Randy Wilkes.
