Services for John William (JW) Ray, age 83, of Waynesboro, TN will be Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 1 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, TN with Mike Hammond and W. L. Wallace officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan 24, 2007 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, Jan 25, 2007 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home. He died at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN on Tuesday, January 23, 2007.
Mr. Ray, a native of Waynesboro, TN, was a retired automobile body workman, a United States Army Veteran of WWII, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. He was a son of the late William Monroe and Myrtle Ellen Lands Ray and a brother of the late Edna Bracey and Clinton Ray.
Survivors, wife, Geneva Lynch Ray, sons, Mike Ray, Tony Ray, Jeff Ray, daughter, Sherry Ray, all of Waynesboro, TN, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
