John Ross Pitts

John Ross Pitts was born September 1, 1952 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late Joe and Marquerite Bastin Pitts. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lacher on July 7, 1973. Mr. Pitts was a 1970 graduate of Wayne County High School, a mason, a member of the IBEW for 47 years, and attended the Waynesboro First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, TN. He retired as an electrician for Wallace Electric in Memphis, TN and was employed by the City of Waynesboro. Mr. Pitts departed this life on November 5, 2022 in Waynesboro, TN at his home at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 4 days.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Lacher Pitts of Waynesboro, TN; daughters, Johna Pitts of Richmond, VA, and Martha Pitts of Murfreesboro, TN; a son, John Ross Pitts II of Mt. Juliet, TN; a sister, Sandy Pitts Martin of Waynesboro, TN; a mother-in-law, Flora Evelyn Lacher of Waynesboro, TN; a sister-in-law, Joy Pitts of Savannah, TN; a brother-in-law, Richard Lacher and wife Carolyn of Waynesboro, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pitts is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Pitts Whitehead and a brother, Joe A. Pitts.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Novemeber 9, 2022 from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro, TN, with Dusty Malugen officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Waynesboro, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Waynesboro First United Methodist Church-P.O. Box 464, Waynesboro, TN.

Pallbearers are Chip Martin, Mark Hughes, Robbie Tucker, Jeff Cummings, Jason Pitts, Eric Davis, Steve Beckham, and Larry Howell.

Honorary Pallbearers are City of Waynesboro Maintenance employees.
