John William Overton, Sr., 86, of Toone, died Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2007 at the Regional Hospital of Jackson.
The widower of Celeste L. Overton, who died April 29, 1985 after 35 years of marriage, he was a farmer. Mr. Overton was born November 26, 1920, son of the late W. F. and Eunice Patrick Overton and lived here all of his life. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a member of Bolivar Church of Christ.
He leaves one daughter, Linda Celeste Overton of Toone; two sons and their wives, John W. Overton, Jr. and Carolyn of Savannah, Darryl Overton and Deanna of Waverly and two grandchildren, Calley Celeste and Daniel Patrick.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sara Smith.
