John Clayton Latimer went to his favorite fishing hole in Heaven on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. He was born on March 8, 1933 in Marvel, Alabama to the late Melvin and Thelma (Massey) Latimer.
Mr. Latimer entered the Operating Engineers Union at age 17 and remained a member for 66 years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, a member of the DAV, along with the Mason's and Scottish Rites. He owned and operated "UP Saw Sales & Service" in Iron River, Michigan for 18 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, son Van (Tracie), daughter Shay Montoya, his grandchildren; Kaitlynn, Jourdan, Jacobi, Cooper, Jessica, Jonathan, Steven, Jacob, Michael, and Chelsey along with 10 great grandchildren. Also a brother, Joe Latimer, of McCalla, Alabama and a very special sister- and brother-in-law, Warren and Lila Pollock, and special cousin Harold (Janice) Maness along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
John loved fishing for walleyes at Perch lake, telling stories, spending time with his family, and "spoiling" his grandson Jacobi during the summer with ice cream every night. He was loved and cherished by his entire family and will be so greatly missed.
