John Wesley Kirk, 100, of Middleton, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Beverly Healthcare in Ripley, Mississippi.
The widower of Beulah Olivia Bell Kirk, who died October 14, 1979 after 43 years of marriage, he worked at Sims’ Hickory Mill in Middleton. He also farmed and dug and cleaned wells. Mr. Kirk was born March 31, 1906 in Tippah County, Mississippi, son of the late Giles Calvin Kirk and Cloria Brigman Kirk. He loved to hunt squirrels and snakes and was a member of Christ’s Temple Apostolic.
Services were 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Charity Church in Tippah County with Tim Watson and John Casner officiating. Burial was in Gentry’s Chapel Cemetery near Middleton.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Norma & Charles Smith of Middleton and Shirley & Dean Smith of Walnut, Miss.; two sons, William C. Kirk & his wife, Rose of Belden, Miss. and Jerry Kirk & his friend, Phyllis of Walnut, Miss.; two brothers, Ross Kirk of Toledo, Ohio and Charlie Kirk of Rising Fawn, Georgia; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 22 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles David Kirk and Bill Bell; two sisters, Allie Tipler and Sarah Ballard and four brothers, Jessie, Joe, James and Luke Kirk.
