Ramer, TN

John Arthur Justice, born to Charles and Pauline White Justice on November 1, 1949, peacefully passed away on January 1, 2024. A man whose life was defined by love, faith, and a deep commitment to family, John will be remembered as a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

John cherished the memories from his childhood, especially those of him and his two brothers' adventures in Fort Lauderdale and Nassau, Bahamas. A proud graduate of Stranahan High School in 1969, John's journey continued with a football scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Martin. As a four-year starter at defensive tackle, he not only showcased his athletic ability but also demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, earning the honor of serving as captain. His time on the field laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication to sports and mentorship.

After college, John embarked on a career as an educator, coach, and athletic director.

His influence extended far beyond the classroom and the sports arena, touching the lives of countless students and athletes.

John's faith in the Lord was a guiding force throughout his life. His love for God was evident in his actions, words, and the kindness he extended to others. Affectionately known as Papa and Coach, John's presence brought warmth and love to those around him.

John is survived by his loving daughter Jaclyn Burdette and son-in-law Jason. John's greatest joy in life was found in his role as a grandfather. He leaves behind grandsons Chase Burdette and wife Ellie, Alan Burdette, and Nick Burdette, as well as honorary granddaughters Amelia, Emma Lee, and Vivienne Leckner. John is also survived by his brother Charlie Justice (Sue), sister-in-law Susan Justice, nieces Jennifer Justice and Lisa Justice, and grandnephews Tristan and Joshua Alderton, and a host of friends, whom he loved like family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pauline Justice, his brother David Justice, and nephews Christopher Justice and Matthew Justice.

Following his retirement as the Athletic Director at Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce, FL, John relocated to Ramer, TN to be with his family where he enjoyed farming, raising cattle, cutting hay, and being surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. In his leisure, John found joy in sports, weightlifting, deep-sea fishing, and duck hunting. These cherished pastimes, along with being with his family, brought him peace and happiness.
