John Thomas Howell, 63, of Middleton, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Mary Frances Bass Howell who survives, they were married March 16, 1963. Mr. Howell was born September 11, 1942 in Hardeman County, son of the late James Elbert Howell and the late Lula Mae Sisco Howell. He lived most of his life in Hardeman County. He worked 21 years at Sequentia in Grand Junction and 9 years as a paper carrier for the Bolivar Bulletin Times. He was a member of Brints Chapel Baptist Church.
Mr. Howell loved the outdoors, working with animals, going to yard sales and auctions, his paper route in Grand Junction and Bolivar and spending time with his family.
Services were 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel, with Orville Howell, Jerry Howell and Adrian Knipper officiating. Burial was in the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Middleton, with Anthony Bass, Brian Howell, Chris Blackwell, Jeremy Phillips, Jimmy Tetleton and Tony Wright as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Terry and Randall Howell, Jeremy Graves, Ricky Watkins and Scott Pearl.
He is survived by one daughter and three sons, Lisa Howell Maxwell and her husband Kent of Middleton, Timmy Howell and his wife Samantha of Bolivar, Scotty Howell of Middleton, Steve Howell of Middleton and his girlfriend Susan Ginn of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Josh and Matthew Howell of Bolivar, Jessica Maxwell Grantham and her husband Steven Grantham, and Chris Maxwell of Middleton; two brothers, Bobby Howell and Kenneth (Teresa) Howell of Middleton, three sisters, Thelma (Van) McDonald and Shirley Graves of Middleton, Sandra (Johnny) Wright of Walnut, MS, Glenda (Bill) Irvin of Millington, TN. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lula Mae Howell and James Elbert Howell and two brothers, Cecil and Donald Howell.
