Graveside services for John Fay Holt, 76, of Bethel Springs, were 1 PM Thursday, May 19, at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery with Robert Clifft officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holt died Tuesday,May 17 at Bolivar General Hospital. The husband of Dottie Sanders Holt, who survives, he was a farm manager and maintenance supervisor at Western Mental Health Institute for 30 years. Mr. Holt was born June 12, 1928 in Obion County, son of the late J. L. Holt, Jr. and Gaynell McCord Holt. He graduated from Rives High School in Rives, Tenn. and lived in Mason Hall, Tenn. before making his home here in 1960. Mr. Holt was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl and was locally noted for making "Reelfoot" style duck calls. He was a member of the Lions Club and Bolivar First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, whom he married November 11, 2001, survivors include two daughters, Alice Fay Holt of Memphis and Stephanie Holt Bledsoe of St. Louis, MO; one son, John Lane Holt of Whiteville and one grandson, Jack Bledsoe.He was preceded in death by his twin brother, David Ray and brother, Kenneth.
