John Helvering was born June 5, 1947 in Newport, Arkansas the son of Ethel and the late James Helvering.
Mr. Helvering graduated from Bradford High School in Brad ford, Arkansas in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After service he attended Arkansas State University and married Jane Bishop on February 14, 1976. They lived in Shelby Co. all of their married life.
Mr. Helvering was Self- Employed at Helvering Construction Co. since 1973. He was a member of the American Legion and he was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting.
Mr. Helvering departed this life on April 16, 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 60 Years, 10 Months, 11 Days.
He is survived by his wife Jane Helvering of Memphis, TN; three daughters, Becky Sicking of Beebe, AR, Kathy Wilson of Mansfield, TX, Cindy Davis of Henderson, TN; a son, John Shane Helvering of Lakeland, TN; four brothers, Leland Helvering of Bolivar, TN, Bill Helvering of Poplar Bluff, AR, David Helvering of Benton , AR, Robert Helvering of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Patricia Graham of Hopkinsville, KY, Margaret Bridley of Mammoth Springs, AR; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Lundrigan, Miranda Sicking, Jake Childers, Kasey Sicking, Jonathon Sicking, Andrew Helvering, Tyler Wilson.
Services will be held on April 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home in Bartlett, Tennessee. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Gardens at Memphis, Tennessee
Pallbearers will be Bud Pierce, Don Nanney, Tip Holcomb, Greg Hall, Patrick Cooper, Eric Helvering, Jack Helvering, Jake Childers, Earl Connolly, and Jerry Patterson.
