Mr. Hachtel died Friday night at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Cathy Hachtel, who survives, he worked as a farm manager, retiring in November of 2009. He was born December 21, 1945 in Wauseon, Ohio, son of the late Reuben William Hachtel and Virginia Mae Edson Hachtel and had lived in Hardeman County since 1991. He served in the US Army for two years during Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion and the Mid South Fly Wheelers Tractor Club. Mr. Hachtel was a Methodist in belief.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on October 23, 1971, survivors include a daughter and her husband, Diane and Bubsy Thompson; a son and his wife, Keith and Katrina Hachtel of Ripley, TN; a sister and her husband, Jennie and Ron Borton of Ohio; a brother, Hap Hachtel of Texas; two grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher Thompson and a grandson due in August, Brody Hachtel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Hachtel and a sister in law, Sheena Hachtel.
