JOHN LINDEN CAROTHERS
Was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on July 24, 1922 the son of the late Oce E. and Lelah Walls Carothers.
On November 23, 1945 he was united in marriage to the former Wilma Faye Hughes, who preceded her husband in death on January 26, 1996.
Mr. Carothers was a retired Numismaticist and a long time owner of Johnny’s Barber Shop and co-owner of the Gold and Silver Shop in Savannah. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the United States Army Air Service in the European Theatre and received the Bronze Star. Mr. Carothers was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Savannah and a long time member of the church choir. He was an avid sportsman and held the office of president of the Shiloh Coin Club for many years.
Mr. Carothers is survived by one son, Timothy Lynn Carothers of Savannah, Tennessee and one daughter, Mary Lynn Jones of Brynaman, Wales, UK
6 grandchildren, Tara C. Watts of Counce, Tennessee, Christopher P. Carothers of Savannah, Tennessee, Kelly L. Meeks of Childers Hill, Tennessee, Sarah K. Barber of Adamsville, Tennessee, Aled Jones of Somerset West, South Africa and Eryl Jones of Ammanford, Wales, UK
6 great-grandchildren, Jillian L. Carothers, Christopher Matthew Meeks, Joshua Jones, Mererid Jones, Heleydd Jones and Rhydian Jones.
Mr. Carothers was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Ruth Carothers, Audrey Palmer and Mamie Crotts.
