John D. Brown departed this life on Friday, August 30, 2013, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, 27 days.
He was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on March 3, 1931, the son of the late John Henry and Oma Elizabeth Sherrill Brown. On June 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Bratcher, who survives. Mr. Brown was a farmer. He had also worked at Parris Manufacturing and Bell South. He enjoyed gardening, going on walk-a-bouts, deer hunting, fishing, storytelling, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Betty Lou Bratcher Brown of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Carolyn Bratton of Savannah, Tennessee, Brenda G. Cummings and husband Claude of Crump, Tennessee, John H. Brown and wife Jennifer of Savannah, Tennessee, David Dewayne Brown and wife Joy of Adamsville, Tennessee, Charlotte McClain and husband Doug of Savannah, Tennessee, Donald Glen Brown and wife Amy of Savannah, Tennessee, Ronald Lynn Brown and wife Lee of Hornsby, Tennessee, Shelly Stricklin and husband Jeremy, and Kelly Dockery and husband Kevin all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, John Hardin Brown, Jr., William David McClain, Wesley McClain,Spencer Thomas Brown, Neely Dell Brown, Taylor Russell Brown, Sawyer Brown Stricklin, Jacob Dowty, Mallory Lowery, Macy Lowery, Noah Stricklin, Lily Stricklin, Lucas Stricklin, and Crystal Coffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Will, Benton, Pete, Fred, and Taylor Brown; sisters, Mary Melson, Kat Morgan, Pearl Beckham, Alta Mae Moore, Jewel Helton, and 3 infant sisters.
