John D Austin was born on November 5, 1953 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Lillie Lucille Cossey Austin.
John honorably served his country in the United States Navy in the Secret Service/Intelligence Department. While in active duty, John spent time stationed in Korea, Japan, Germany, California, Hawaii, Georgia, and Florida. He retired from the military after 38 years, 8 months, and 19 days of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching movies, grilling, traveling, and spending time with his beloved dog, "Tiffany".
John D Austin departed this life on January 23, 2023 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 69 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
He is survived by his sisters, Robbie Ann Jones of Savannah, Tennessee and Effie Dean Franks of Union City, Tennessee; brother, James (Red) Austin of Savannah, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and "Tiffany", his beloved dog and special member of his family.
In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his sister, Willie Jo Jones and brothers, Floyd Jr Austin and Billy C. Austin.
