Joey Thomas was born March 21, 1967 in Canoga Park, CA the son of William G. (Bill) and Mary Lou Musto Thomas.
Joey moved to Tennessee in 1969, attending school in Selmer and Adamsville, and graduating from McNairy Central High School in 1985.
Joey graduated from MTSU in 1991 with a B.S. in Aerospace Administration and a minor in Psychology. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist and Supervisor ATC Specialist in Atlanta, GA, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Melbourne, FL from 1990 until 1997. He was also employed by various companies in Sales and Advertising/Marketing in Texas and Florida. Joey was currently employed with KeyTrak in Texas where he worked as a sales manager for the south Florida territory. He sold security solutions and managed customers including KeyTrak's largest customer, AutoNation. He was the top performer in 2015 and was always near the top in sales results. He was a consultant, support rep, account rep, and sales rep all in one. Joey had the rare skills to manage many areas: pre-sales, post-sales, and customer support, all at once for hundreds of customers.
Joey loved living near the water from the Virgin Islands to Florida. Doing so allowed him to participate in the things he enjoyed doing: canoeing, kayaking, and boating or just being on a beach somewhere. He was an avid grill-master (at least he thought so), who enjoyed cooking for his friends and neighbors and anyone who would eat and share recipes. He enjoyed remodeling his home and buying new furniture. Joey loved animals, anyone's pets, and they always loved him. He loved to spoil his cat Hobie and his standard poodle Marley who was his special sidekick. He loved the color blue, gadgets and electronics, palm trees and beaches, sand between his toes and flip-flops. His favorite attire was cargo shorts, t-shirts, and his famous flip-flops. He loved Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffett tunes but he still listened to a little country, too. He loved to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was described by his close friends as one who was always there to help. In the end...Joey loved!
Joey departed this life on March 27, 2016 in Largo, Florida at the age of 49 Years, 6 Days. He is survived by his parents, William G. (Bill) and Mary Lou Musto Thomas of Stantonville, TN; a brother, John Thomas and wife Cheryl of Stantonville, TN; his beloved pet, Marley; and a host of friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
Memorial contributions in memory of Joey may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
