Joel Wayne Murphy

was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on October 25, 1957 the son of the late Raymond Loyd and Gertie Maye Hopper Murphy.

On April 29, 1995 he was united in marriage to Melissa Ann Benson, who survives.

Joel retired from Murphy Construction. He was a member of Olivet Pentecostal Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and family gatherings. Joel lived in Hardin County all of his life.

He departed this life on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 9 days.

In addition to his wife of 27 years, Melissa of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by his sons, Jeremy Wayne Murphy of Summertown, Tennessee and Calvin Edward Abels of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, John Loyd Murphy and Micheal Lynn Murphy, both of Savannah, Tennessee; and sisters, Sherry Lynn Irvin and Tracy Michelle Morris, both Savannah, Tennessee.

Joel was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lonnie Lee Murphy and Raymond Earl Murphy.
