Mr. Williams passed away Wednesday afternoon at Bolivar General Hospital in Bolivar, TN.
The widower of Ophelia Anderson Williams, who died June 12, 1965, and Dorothy Williams, who died June 22, 1998, he was the owner and operator of Pure Oil Distributor in Bolivar. He was born to the late Albert Sidney Williams and Ila Ragland Williams and lived all of his life in Bolivar. He attended the Gulfcoast Military Academy in Gulfport, Mississippi, graduating with the class of 1928. He was a charter member and the second president of the Bolivar Rotary Club and was the director of the Hardeman County Savings Bank for several years. He was an avid flyer and lover of airplanes and reading. Mr. Williams was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bolivar.
Survivors of Mr. Williams include a daughter, Sandra Plumley and her husband Jerry Plumley of Bolivar; a son, Joe Anderson Williams of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Sherry Kern of Auburn, AL; Donny Howard of Hernando, MS; Carole Harrell of Collierville, TN; Diane Salley of Atlanta, GA; and Guy Williams of Tehachapi, CA; and nine great-grandchildren.
