Joe Wilkins was born on July 19, 1949 in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Raymond Andrew Wilkins and Ima Jo Betts Varnell.
On July 14, 1969, he was united in marriage to Wanda Pearl Blanton, who preceded her husband in death on April 5, 2018.
Before working for FedEx in his later years, Joe owned and operated Joe's Family Haircare & Visible Changes for 40 years. He loved fishing, hunting, doing photography, traveling, eating at restaurants, and watching western movies.
Joe Wilkins departed this life on January 19, 2022 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 72 years and 6 months.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Pugh and her husband Greg of Cullman, Alabama; son, John Wayne Wilkins and his wife Stephanie of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Donny Varnell of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Audrey McMickens, Ellie McMickens, Sophia McMickens, Elijah Wilkins, Jacob Pugh, Josh Pugh, and Jared Pugh; and great grandchild, Nevaeh Pugh.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Byrd and Billy Byrd; and grandchild, Emariah Wilkins.
