Joe L. Prather was born October 5, 1918 in Selmer, Tennessee the son of the late James (J.C.) Claude and Hattie McCormack Prather.
He was united in marriage to Mabel "Tee" Baker on August 23, 1941. Mrs. Prather preceded him in death on November 25, 2000.
Mr. Prather was a retired logger, builder and farmer. He received an award for outstanding farmer of the year. He was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Ramer, Tennessee, member of Selmer Saddle Club and Eastview Ruritans. He loved rabbit hunting, good dogs, fast horses and cars. He enjoyed pulling pranks on family and friends.
Mr. Prather departed this life on July 7, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 9 Months, 2 Days. He is survived by an adopted nephew, "John" Lynn Pearson of Selmer, TN; two sisters, Ruth Edwards of Selmer, TN, Minnie Lois Johnson of Selmer, TN; host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife of 59 years and parents, Mr. Prather was preceded in death by two sisters, Pattie Everett Springer, Blanche Griffin; five brothers, Raymond Prather, R.T. Prather, Clyde Prather, Ellis Prather, Walter Bluford Prather.
