Joe Don Plunk was born January 29, 1939 in Hardin County, Tennessee the son of the late Aubrey and Ruby Greene Plunk.
He was united in marriage to Iona Jo Smelser on November 20, 1964.
Mr. Plunk served honorably in the US Army from 1961-62, retired from General Electric in 1995 and he was a part-time farmer most of his life. He enjoyed being busy in retirement tending a garden and working in the yard, raised and rode Spotted Tennessee Walking Horses, kept a herd of goats, helped in his son's farm operation and playing with his granddaughter. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years.
Mr. Plunk departed this life on June 12, 2007 at the Med in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 4 Months, 14 Days. He is survived by his wife, Jodie Plunk of Adamsville, Tennessee; son, David Plunk and wife Embra of Stantonville, Tennessee; granddaughter, Emma Plunk of Stantonville, Tennessee; four brothers, Bill Plunk and wife Mollie of Adamsville, Tennessee, William Plunk and wife Doris of Savannah, Tennessee, Jerry Plunk and wife Bettye of Stantonville, Tennessee, and Mike Plunk and wife Mary Gwin of Savannah, Tennessee; two sisters, Linda Rinks and husband W. H. of Spring City, Tennessee and Sandra Curlin and husband Larry of Lexington, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Plunk was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lee Lawson.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be greatly missed.
