Joe Prentice Morris

Joe Prentice Morris was born April 19, 1933 in Wayne Co., TN, the son of the late Herman and Mary Walker Morris. He was united in marriage to Janie Adeline Cannon on December 29, 1955 and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2016.

Mr. Morris was a tool/dye machinist retired from Reynolds Metal and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Morris departed this life on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 85 Years, 2 Months, 8 Days.

He is survived by sons, Billy Joe Morris of Conway, AR, Richard Morris of Iron City, TN and Paul Cannon of Dickson, TN; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, J. D. Morris of Toledo, OH; sisters, Mary Ann Turnbo and Sue Morris both of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Dedrick; grandson, Shaune Dedrick, brothers, Harold Morris, Robert Morris, Billy Morris; Jesse Gene Morris, sister, Alice McClain.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Philadelphia Cemetery in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Leo Doyle officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Jason McClain, Greg McClain, Roger Staggs, Darrell West, Brian Cannon and Keith Morgan.

Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 8 am until 10:30 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN.
