Joe Price Hardin

Joe was born on June 30th, 1934. He was the oldest son of Price D and Margaret Hardin of Arbyrd Missouri. He had three siblings, June, Don, and David. He married Beverly Byrom on August 13th, 1955. They were married for a total of 69 years and had four children. Jill Irwin (Gary), Jeff Hardin (Toni), Joe B Hardin (Diana), and Jon Hardin (Jennifer). He had eleven grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.

Joe went to Arbyrd Elementary and High School. He attended Freed-Hardeman College from 1952 through 1954 and then transferred to Lipscomb where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in accounting. He worked in the business department at Freed Hardeman for over 30 years and had an accounting business beginning in Henderson and later expanding to other towns.

Joe ran the clock for FHU basketball for many years and was an Athletics Hall of Fame member at FHU. He knew all about picking cotton and how hard life was growing up. He worked hard, loved his family, taught them to love the Lord, and how to be extremely frugal. His example of preaching and Eldership will influence many generations.

Joe P also started a fireworks enterprise that taught many of his children and grandchildren about business and a good work ethic. He served for several years on the Chester County Comment Commission at the big table at Jack’s.

He passed on to his reward on April 8th, 2025, surrounded by family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Henderson Church of Christ preceded by a visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The family will also receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 11, at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Crook Ave Chapel in Henderson, TN.
