JOAN MARIE MORKAL SHELDON

was born in Decatur, Alabama on July 26, 1958 the daughter of Jack Victor Morkal and Anna Marie Martinez.

On August 23, 1979 she was united in marriage to Joseph Walter Sheldon, who survives.

Joan proudly served her country in the United States Army. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. In her spare time she enjoyed needlework, yard work, hunting, fishing and gardening, which she was an organic farmer.

Joan departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 29 days.

In addition to her husband of 40 years, Joseph of Olive Hill, Tennessee, she is survived by her children, Nathaniel Sheldon of Princeton, Kentucky, Tiffanie Boswell of Mobile, Alabama, Leonard Sheldon of North Pole, Alaska, Joseph Sheldon of Anchorage, Alaska, Joanie Simpler of North Pole, Alaska, Valerie Sheldon-Taylor of Fort Huachuca, Arizona, William Sheldon of Anchorage, Alaska, Doug Sheldon of Anchorage, Alaska, Rosalie Sheldon of Columbia, South Carolina, Nikolaus Sheldon of Olive Hill, Tennessee, Susie Sheldon of Olive Hill, Tennessee and Jeannie Sheldon of Olive Hill, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ivy, Abigale, Blair, Arya, Athena, Leonardo, Kaylee and Lex; sisters, Valerie Harper of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jeannette Morkal of Sacramento, California and Catherine Leidig of Port Richey, Florida; half brother, Sean Morkal of Anchorage, Alaska; mother, Anna Martinez of Sacramento, California; and father, Jack V. Morkal of Wasilla, Alaska.

Joan was preceded in death by one brother, John Victor Morkal.
