It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Brewer Payne, a beloved member of the Westpoint, TN community, who left us on October 23, 2024, at the age of 80. Jo Ann was born on April 25, 1944, in Wayne County, TN, to the late Louis and Bessie Thompson Brewer.
Jo Ann's life was filled with love and devotion, especially to her family. On September 5, 1964, she united in marriage with William Monroe Payne, who sadly preceded her in death just a few short months ago on August 1, 2024. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them.
An accomplished vocational instructor at the South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton, TN, Jo Ann dedicated her career to guiding and mentoring others. Her passion for teaching touched many lives and made a lasting impact in her community. In her own time, she found joy in nurturing her vibrant garden, which reflected her love for nature and beauty. Jo Ann was also a cherished member of the Collinwood Church of God, where her faith and community spirit shined brightly.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and unwavering love for her sons, Jayson Payne and Amy of Iron City, TN and Wade Payne and Carissa of Lake Gem, FL; and grandchildren, Garrett Payne, Logan Payne, and Weston Payne.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jo Ann is preceded in death by her brothers, J.W. Brewer, Billy Brewer, Toby Brewer, Bobby Brewer, Darch Brewer, and Dale Brewer; and sister, Mary Brown.
