Mr. Pierce passed away Thursday afternoon April 1, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
The husband of Gay Pierce, who survives, he was a transportation supervisor for the Hardeman County Board of Education for 15 years. Mr. Pierce was born January 14, 1948 in Hardeman County to Lucille Pierce and the late William Barney Pierce, Jr. and lived all of his life here. He served in the Army in Vietnam as a sergeant, having served two tours and earned a Bronze Star. Mr. Pierce was a member of Bolivar Central High School class of 1966, a graduate of Crump Vocational School, and a member of Hatchie Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, whom he married July 14, 1978, and his mother, he is survived by two sons, Jimmy Lynn Pierce, II and his wife, Jennifer of Bolivar, David Pierce of Hornsby; a daughter, Angela Dawn Compton and her husband, Jamie of Jefferson, GA; a sister, Mary Pierce of Hornsby; and five grandchildren, Evan, Kyli, Charli, Spencer, and Bryce.
