REV. JIMMY R. OSBORNE

Henderson, TN: Jimmy Ray Osborne, age 83 passed away January 12, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1937 in Birmingham, AL the son of the late Arthur Clinton and Opal Chalis Upton Osborne. He grew up in Jackson, TN and graduated from Jackson High School, Union University, Southwestern Theological Seminary, and Luther Rice Seminary, receiving his B.A., M. Div. and D. Min. Degrees.

Rev. Osborne served four years in the United States Marine Corps, serving about eighteen months in the 2nd Marine Division, and about eighteen months in Marine Air Group-31.

Rev. Osborne was ordained a deacon and elder with full membership in the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he served churches, later, he transferred to the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he served until his retirement in June 1994. Upon his retirement, he returned to his hometown of Jackson, where he served churches in the Memphis Conference. Rev. Osborne has served United Methodist Churches across the State of Tennessee.

Rev. Osborne is survived by his wife, Joann W. Osborne, of Henderson; two daughters, Kathy Blount of Jackson and Vicky Nelson (Jerry) of Gadsden, TN; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Osborne Mingle of Hendersonville, TN.

Due to covid concerns a private family service will be held at Shackelford funeral Directors – East Main Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
