Jimmy D. Johnson

Jimmy D. Johnson went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2013 at the home he shared with his wife in Rossville, TN.

Jimmy was born in Hardin County on April 14, 1948. He was the son of Mary Jo Johnson and the late Bentley Detrois Johnson. On August 6, 1977, he was united in marriage to Jane Godwin, who survives.

Jimmy graduated from Hardin County High School in 1966. He received his bachelors from the University of Tennessee at Martin and his masters from Mississippi State University. He retired after 23 years with the Army National Guard as a Major. He was a part of the auxiliary police in Collierville, TN for almost a decade. Jimmy was heavily active in the 4-H program while his children were growing up and was the President of the Volunteer Leaders. He was an active member and then alumni in the FFA. He was currently serving as a board member at the Agricenter in Shelby County.

Jimmy was an active member at Kirk Baptist Church in Collierville, Tennessee. He was a God fearing man who lived out his faith. He loved traveling, especially to the Smoky Mountains, and traveling to and with his family as much as possible. Jimmy impacted so many throughout his life and was an incredible mentor, leader, and friend.

In addition to his wife of almost 36 years, Jane Johnson of Rossville, TN, he is survived by his daughter Jana Payne, son-in-law Steve Payne, grandchildren Thomas, Kolby & Kaylee Payne of Clinton, TN; his daughter Jennifer Bizzell, son-in-law Tater Bizzell, grandchildren TJ, Jopp, Heaven, Kelsey & Kendra Bizzell, great-grandchild Jayden Lewis of Savannah, TN; his son James Johnson, daughter-in-law Rebecca, grandchildren Samantha & Ashleigh Johnson of Tullahoma, TN; his daughter Janey Johnson, future son-in-law Julian Cauette of Marietta, GA; his mother Mary Jo Johnson of Savannah, TN; his brother Tommy Johnson, sister-in-law Vickie Johnson of Martin, TN.
